THE TELEPHONE BOX

In 2016, BT announced that it wanted to remove Woodgreen’s telephone box. Following discussions, the Parish Council agreed to adopt it for a nominal fee. It was decided to turn it into a local history and information point using many of the stories and photographs we collected for the 2017 Woodgreen Shop calendar – and have now presented on this website.

The box was lovingly repainted and cleaned and the displays were installed on August 4th 2018. The official opening took place on the 13th October 2018 with Val Stern (who had the original idea for a ‘History and Information’ kiosk) cutting the ribbon.
