Nurse Brom (E. Bromley, 1901 – 1998) was the first person to see many of the people born in the village. She was the local midwife and lived in ‘Avon View’. As well as the local population, Nurse Brom also served the wider gypsy community. She collected many hand-crafted gifts as a thank you for her services.
When she retired in 1961, this car was one of the many gifts Nurse ‘Brom’ received from grateful villagers. She continued to drive it until she was 90 years old!
